Zilong Liu studies how humans understand (e.g., perceive, categorize, conceptualize) the world from a geographic information science perspective. Much of his work from 2020 to 2022 was carried out at the Center for Spatial Studies in collaboration with the KnowWhereGraph community. Topics include 'platial' variability, geo-semantic interoperability, geographic thinking in AI ethics, spatial and temporal principles of knowledge graphs, etc. 

Advised by Prof. Krzysztof Janowicz, Zilong is currently a University Assistant (predoc) working at the Vienna International School of Earth and Space Sciences on Knowledge Graph-based Geo-Enrichment for Environmental Intelligence.
