Jingyi Xiao is a graduate student in the Geography Department at UCSB. She completed her M.A. degree, studying GIS with Werner Kuhn. She holds a B.A. in Geomatics from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) as cum laude. Before attending UCSB, she had done research in geology using GIS techniques, primarily focusing on landslides. Xiao has interned for Esri (China) during her summer vacation.
Her current research focuses on spatial computing using Haskell. She is completing her Ph.D. with the direction of Kostas Goulias.
