spatial@ucsb.global2021: Spatial Data Science for a Sustainable Future

Welcome!

In collaboration with the International Association of Young Geographers, the Center for Spatial Studies will be hosting its annual poster session, but we will be taking it from the local level to the global, renaming it spatial@ucsb.global2021, to reflect that it will now be an international event. It will be held on this virtual platform on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, with the suggested theme, Spatial Data Science for a Sustainable Future.

We encourage presenters to address this theme, but we will accept posters on any topic that represents any aspect of spatial analysis.

Our deadline for submitting a poster is May 28th, 2021 (EXTENDED). Collaborative teams are welcome to work together to produce a poster, but the poster must only be submitted once. To participate the event, either as an author of the poster or a general audience, please register by June 1st.

As in our traditional events, presenters will have the opportunity to interact with registered participants on the event day (virtually via this platform)! Here is the schedule, and below are instructions for presenters and participants of using this platform:

Guideline for poster submissions:

  • Each team must only submit the poster once, but each team member must register individually
  • The poster must be in the format of .png, .jpeg, .jpg, or .gif
  • The resolution of the images used and the final poster must be at least DPI 300
  • The maximum size of the submission is 30MB

spatial@ucsb.local, an annual poster and plenary session, attracts academics, students, and members of the public and private sectors of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. Participants have the opportunity to showcase their recent work in spatial thinking and technology in poster format or in digital demonstrations.
