Research Associate (2014-15)
Selena Daly is a Post-Doctoral Researcher and Fulbright Scholar (2014-15) at the Department of French and Italian at UCSB. Her research is interdisciplinary in scope and lies at the crossroads of Italian studies, cultural history, and digital humanities. Her primary area of interest is the Italian Futurist movement in Italy, an avant-garde cultural and literary movement active in the early twentieth century. Her current research project is entitled “Managing the Movement: The Group Dynamics of Italian Futurism, 1909-1944”, which uses the tools of historical GIS to investigate and analyse the intra-group dynamics, diffusion and shifting membership of the Italian Futurist movement throughout Italy. This research is funded by a major three-year award from the Irish Research Council and European Union (Marie Curie Actions). Her first monograph, Italian Futurism and the First World War, will appear with University of Toronto Press in 2016.
