The Center for Spatial Studies welcomes visiting scholars, instructors, postdoctoral researchers, and interns from any discipline and at any stage of their careers, as long as their work relates to spatial thinking and/or computing (view our previous and current visitors).

The Center will assist the visitor in obtaining a J-1 visa and it will provide workspace, internet and UCSB library access, mentoring and consultation, and access to other professionals with common interests. However, a visitor must be self-funded, provide his own health insurance, bring his own laptop, and must make his own arrangements for travel and housing.

To apply to be a visitor to the Center for Spatial Studies at UCSB, please provide the proposed dates of your visit, a CV, names and contact information for two references, and a research plan for the work you will conduct for the duration of your visit.

Please note: Due to COVID-19, we are not accepting applications for visits that will occur before January 2021.

The application must be sent to our contact email.
